96 GERMANY Saarbrücken 2011 Conference Hall in Saarbrücken A key objective of the large-scale renovation of this 1960s building was to optimise the acoustics in the conference hall. The multi-purpose performance hall is the principal venue for the Saarbrücken and Kaiserslautern philharmonic orchestras. The backstage has been adapted and a new gallery introduced using steel consoles. The red-lacquered panelling and the decorative brass appliqués add a contemporary touch.
